Are you looking for an interesting volunteer job? Are you new to Chilliwack? Are you a long-time resident?
Chilliwack ElderCollege is a member-driven, not-for-profit society which offers courses to those 50 years of age and better. We are always looking for interesting ideas and committed volunteers.
At present, we have openings for volunteers on the Administration and Program Committees. We are also looking for additional volunteers for the office.
The Program Committee is responsible for brainstorming ideas for new courses and encouraging community members to bring forward their ideas and skills to provide our members with a variety of interesting courses.
We’re looking for YOU to bring your best ideas to toss around and get everyone excited. The Program Committee meets monthly or as necessary during each semester.
The Administration Committee is responsible for the running of the organization.
The Administration Committee operates under the leadership of the Chair of the Administration Committee. Its responsibilities include all aspects of effective management and administrative protocols of CEC.
Typically, the Administration Committee meets at least twice in each semester.
Volunteers are needed in the office to assist with the administration of the courses.
Our office is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM). Volunteer staff work with the Coordinator to ensure each course goes smoothly and seamlessly from launch to evaluation.
The Facilitator will be provided with a checklist to assist the Instructor in the class. These duties include picking up the class attendance list, taking attendance, assisting students with way-finding as needed, acting as ElderCollege liaison, answering questions and referring enquiries to the ElderCollege office, handing out evaluation forms, collecting back forms at the final class, and delivering to the office.
